Signup and Login

  • What is the minimum age requirement on Skooba?

    The minimum age to use Skooba is 18 years.

  • I'm not able to log in.

    This may be temporary. First ensure you have an internet connection, if you do and the problem persists please wait a while and try again. If after following these steps you are still unable to login, delete the app and reinstall. If you have any questions please email support@goskooba.com.

  • Why does Skooba need access to my photos / camera roll?

    Skooba offers a number of ways for you to add photos and videos. To allow you to take a new photo or video and to choose existing photos Skooba needs access to your camera and photos.

  • The app keeps crashing.

    Please ensure you have the latest version of Skooba and the latest operating system version installed on your phone. If the issue persists, force quit the app and retry. If this doesn’t fix the problem, delete the app from your device and re-install. Don’t worry, so long as you don’t delete your account your posts, matches and messages will still be there.

  • Will I lose my posts, matches and messages if I delete the app?

    So long as you don’t delete your account your posts, matches and messages won’t be deleted when deleting the app from your phone.

  • How do I change Facebook accounts when logging in?

    To change accounts log out of Skooba then log out of Facebook in Safari, logging out of the Facebook app alone will not allow you to change accounts. Now log in to Skooba and enter the new Facebook account details.

Profile and Settings

  • How do I change my age?

    If you want to change your age, you will need to delete your account and start again. To do this, delete your Skooba account, change your age on facebook then re-signup to Skooba. This process will mean the loss of your posts, matches and messages.

  • How do I change my name?

    Skooba gathers your information from Facebook, to change your name on Skooba simply change your name on Facebook; Skooba will then update your name automatically over the next few days. If this does not work within a few days; logout and re-login, if your name is not updated, please delete the app and reinstall.

  • How do I edit my profile?

    To edit your profile tap the settings cog in the bottom right hand corner of the app, tap ‘view profile’, then tap edit in the top right corner of the app. You can edit your profile pictures, your bio and your gender. You can have a maximum of six profile pictures and a minimum of one. Your main profile picture will be the most recently added one.

  • How do I change my interests / page likes?

    This information is pulled in automatically from Facebook and is updated in real time.

  • I can't change my settings

    Please ensure you have the latest version of Skooba, and try again. If the problem persists, please force quit the app and retry in a few hours.

  • How do I delete my account?

    Deleting your account is a permanent action and can’t be undone. You will lose all of your posts, matches and messages.

    This is not the same as deleting the app from the device. When the app is deleted from your device your account remains active and will be availble when you re-install.

    To delete your account tap the settings cog icon in the bottom right corner of the app, then tap delete account. You will be prompted to confirm that you wish to proceed, this is to ensure you don’t accidentally lose your posts, matches and messages.

    Logging in again after deleting your account will generate a brand new account.

  • How do I choose which notifications I receive?

    You can choose which events to receive notifications for. These events are: Likes, Matches and Messages. To switch notifications on or off for an event type please see the General tab in Settings.

Photos

  • How can I add a profile picture?

    Skooba automatically creates a profile picture from your facebook profile when you create a new account. To add additional photos tap the settings cog in the bottom right hand corner of the app, tap ‘view profile’, then tap edit in the top right corner of the app. You may have a maximum of six profile pictures and a minimum of one. Your main profile picture will be the most recently added one.

  • I can't upload photos / videos.

    Ensure you have the latest version on Skooba. If uploading from your phone, ensure you have granted Skooba access to your photos and camera. If uploading from Facebook, ensure the photos are in a public album and visible to your friends and not just you. If the issue persists please try again later.

  • I accidentally denied Skooba access to my photos.

    If you denied access to photos, go to settings on your phone, find Skooba and grant access to photos.

    If you denied access to Facebook photos, Facebook will prompt you to re-authorise, then retry to access your Facebook photos. If this does not work, logout and log back in. If the problem persists please email support@goskooba.com.

My Posts

  • How do I post a new photo or video?

    Tap the home icon in the bottom left corner of the app to return to the timeline screen. Tap and drag the screen to display the pull down tab if not already visible. Tap the ‘Share a Moment’ button to select the source of the photo or video. You will now be able to select or capture the photo or video you wish to use in your new post. Photos are cropped to a square by dragging and pinching to zoom. Tap ‘choose’ to confirm your selection. Videos are automatically taken in a square format. You may optionally add some text to accompany your photo or video and you may also optionally add a nearby location by tapping ‘add location’. When you are happy tap ‘post’ in the top right corner to publish your post. Posts must contain either a photo or a video.

  • I have just posted a new photo / video but it is not appearing in 'My Moments'

    The upload process is dependent on the presence and speed of your internet connection and may take a few minutes to appear in the ‘My Moments’ screen. Please ensure you have a good internet connection. If the post does not appear within an few minutes, you may need to repost when you have a better internet connection. Duplicate posts can be deleted in the My Moments screen. Please see below for how to edit / delete your posts.

  • How can I view my posts

    In the home screen tap ‘My Moments’ to see your posts.

  • How can I edit or delete one of my posts

    When viewing your posts tap the down chevron in the top right corner of each post and select edit or delete. Deleting a post will remove it permanently. Posts can be edited to change the photo / video, text or location.

My Timeline

  • How can I return to the top of the timeline

    To return to the top of the timeline tap the home button in the bottom left corner whilst in the timeline view.

  • How do I refresh my timeline?

    To refresh the timeline scroll to the top of the timeline then tap, hold and pull the timeline screen. The refresh spinner will show while the app gets the latest posts from the people around you. Refreshing the timeline needs an internet connection.

  • When I refresh the timeline there is no change

    The people around you may not have posted any new posts yet or you may not have a good internet connection. Please try again later.

  • There are no posts in my timeline.

    There may not be any people around you that match your preferences right now. To change your timeline preferences please see the question ‘How do I change my preferences’. For the timeline to be accessable discovery needs to be active. This setting is accessable in the preferences page of the app. Disabling discovery prevents you appearing on other peoples timelines.

  • How do I like someone?

    To like someone tap the heart icon marked like at the bottom right of each post. If you are already matched with the user the like icon is not shown and a message icon is shown in its place.

  • How can I see a user's profile and all their posts?

    To see a users profile tap the view profile button at the bottom left of a post or tap their profile picture next to their name.

  • How can I hide a post?

    To hide a post tap the down chevron at the top right of each post and select ‘hide post’. Hiding a single post on the timeline is a permanent action. You can still see all posts by a user in their profile.

  • How can I hide all posts from a user?

    To hide all posts from a user tap the down chevron at the top right of each post and select ‘hide all posts’. All of the user’s posts will be hidden from your timeline.

  • How can I unhide all posts from a user?

    To unhide all posts from a user tap the cog in the bottom right of the app, tap preferences, then tap ‘edit hidden users’. Unhide the user by tapping the cross icon next to their name.

  • How can I play a video in a post?

    To play a video tap the play icon in the centre of the video.

  • How do I know if I'm already matched with a user?

    Posts from your matches have a red heart at the top right of their profile image and display ‘message’ rather than ‘like’ in the bottom right of the post.

  • How can I see more posts?

    To see more posts: tap, hold and scroll down the timeline. A maximum of 200 posts can be displayed. To see more recent posts scroll to the top of the timeline, then tap, hold and pull to refresh the timeline.

  • How can I return to the top of the timeline

Likes

  • There are no likes showing up, why?

    You have not been liked by anyone new, add a new moment to get noticed. Remember that the more you post, the closer you are to the top of your prospective matches’ timelines and the more you will be seen.

  • How do I like or dislike a user that has liked me?

    To like a user swipe right or tap the green tick icon button. To reject a like, swipe left or tap the red cross icon button.

  • I rejected a like but the person keeps reappearing in my likes.

    When you reject a like the user can re-like you. If you want to prevent the user re-liking you and seeing your posts, tap the like photo to view their profile, then tap the options icon in the top right corner and select ‘block’. This action is permanent and will prevent you seeing that user’s posts in your timeline, as well as preventing them from seeing your posts or liking you. This action is permanent and irreversible.

  • I accidentally rejected a like, can I get it back?

    As a Skooba Plus user you can rewind a rejected like. To be able to rewind, signup for Skooba Plus by tapping the rewind button in the like screen and selecting a Skooba plus subscription.

  • What happens when I swipe yes or no?

    If you swipe ‘yes’ you match with the user that liked you, then you can message. If you swipe ‘no’ the like is removed. Users can re-like you again later if they want to. To prevent this you can block the user, this is a permanent and irreversible action.

  • How do I see a user's profile?

    To see the user’s profile tap the like photo.

  • Can I report a user?

    Yes. To report a user tap the user’s photo to see their profile, tap the options icon in the top right and select report. You will be asked to ‘tell us why’ so we can investigate properly. They won’t be informed who reported them. If you want to block the user tap block instead. Blocking is permanent and will prevent you seeing their posts in your timeline, as well as preventing them from seeing your posts or liking you.

Matches and Messages

Skooba Plus

  • What is Skooba plus?

    Skooba plus is the premium version of Skooba. Skooba plus is an in-app purchase subscription. It allows you to view timelines from other locations, rewind swipes and  removes adverts from your timeline. To get Skooba plus just tap the rewind icon button in the likes view and follow the instructions. Skooba Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, if you decide to cancel please see the instructions below.

  • How do I get Skooba plus?

    To get Skooba plus just tap the rewind icon button in the likes view and follow the instructions.

  • How can I change my location?

    Only Skooba plus users can change their location. Go to the settings screen by tapping the icon in the bottom right of the screen, then tap preferences, then tap location. You can now choose another location by tapping add new location or reverting to your current location.

  • I am unable to change location.

    Ensure you have a good internet connection. If the issue persists, wait a while and try again, if the issue is still present force quit and restart the app.

  • I started a new Skooba account but Skooba Plus doesn't work anymore.

    Each Skooba Plus subscription can be associated with a maximum of one account. To get Skooba Plus on a new account please delete the account currently associated with the Skooba plus subscription. To delete your account please see the FAQ ‘How do I delete my account?’.  After deleting your old account, log into your new account and tap the rewind swipe button in the likes screen and tap ‘restore purchase’.

  • How do I cancel my Skooba Plus subscription?

    Skooba Plus is an auto-renewing subscription. You can cancel your Skooba plus subscription at any time. To cancel your subscription:

    1. Go to the App Store on your iOS device.
    2. Scroll to the bottom.
    3. Tap Apple ID (your Apple ID email)
    4. Tap View Apple ID.
    5. Log in if it asks you to.
    6. Scroll down to Subscriptions and tap Manage.
    7. Select Skooba and set the auto-renewal slider to Off or select Unsubscribe.

    If the option to turn off auto-renewal is not displayed here, you may have already chosen to turn it off, canceling future charges. If that’s the case, you should be able to see the end date of your subscription on this screen.

    After canceling your subscription you will still be able to access Skooba Plus for the remainder of your now non renewing subscription. Deleting the app and / or deleting the account does not cancel the subscription.

  • How do I request a refund?

    Refunds are handled by apple. To request a refund go to iTunes, click on your apple ID, select purchase history, find the transaction and hit ‘report problem’. You can also submit a request at https://getsupport.apple.com.

  • Skooba plus doesn't work anymore.

    If you are already subscribed to Skooba Plus and the app asks you to subscribe, try restoring your purchase. Tap rewind swipe in the likes view then tap restore purchase.

  • How much is Skooba Plus and what's an auto renewing subscription?

    If you choose to purchase Skooba Plus we will charge you for payment on your iTunes account. Subscriptions are auto renewing until such a time that you turn off auto renewal in the iTunes store. Payments are taken in the preceding 24 hours before the end of the current period. There are 3 periods available; 1 month, 6 months and 12 months. The current prices for Skooba Plus in your country can be found by tapping the rewind button in the ‘Likes’ view. Prices are subject to change without notice. Cancellation of current subscription will not be allowed during the active period. If auto-renew is disabled your account will revert to non Skooba Plus status after the end of the current period.
